11.07.2020 : Balanna Nimala belonging to Madiga Caste had migrated to Pune from Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh in search of livelihood and due to Untouchability, Caste exploitation in his native village.
N. Balanna Madiga was inspired by Babasaheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in his adolescence stage to struggle against untouchability and Caste exploitation which also reflected in his writings & poem alongwith other Madigas based in Pune City and Maharashtra Dalits.
On 20th March, 1927 Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar had given call about Mahad Satyagraha to allow untouchables to use water in a public tank in Mahad currently in Raigad district of Maharashtra state, India. N. Balanna Madiga alongwith 75 other Dalits participated in the Mahad Satyagraha travelling by Bicycles all the way from Pune to Mahad around 150 kms and also met Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
On 14th October 1956 N. Balanna Madiga converted to Buddhism in Nagpur alongwith more than 5 lakhs Dalits on the Call given by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. N. Balanna Madiga also authored books in Telugu on the Topics of Buddhism, Untouchability and Caste Annihilations.
Today Mumbai Region Based Mala, Madigas celebrated Birth Anniversary of N. Balanna Madiga, Santi Shankar Maharaj (Madiga), B. Dravid Maharaj, Baddy Hemantkumar, Mulnivasi Mala & others celebrated the Jayanthi.
